Dinka Pignon

This image shows the precise historical moment in the winter of 2004 when the SLAB came to be. It wasn’t called SLAB at the time and anyways, it didn’t get going until 2006, but the idea was there and that’s what the conversation in the picture is about, taking place aptly at the Foundation restaurant! Dinka is telling Emma what direction she would like VIVO to take and Emma is very pleased. They both worked hard to make it happen, and so it happened. Today, VIVO is proud to be a unique place where media artists can experiment with exciting new devices, find guidance and assistance in production of their pieces and have an opportunity to present them in SLAB exhibitions like Votes for Sleepwalkers.

Dinka is the Coordinator of SLAB. SLAB is short for Studio LAB. When something is too hot to be cool, we say it is slab.
